In the spirit of honesty and respect, I would like to work towards reconciliation by acknowledging the unceded land I live and work on today. I acknowledge the traditional territories in Southern Alberta, which include the people of the Blackfoot Confederacy; encompassing Siksika, Piikani, and Kainai First Nations, the Tsuut’ina First Nation, and the Stoney Nakoda; encompassing Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Wesley First Nations. Southern Alberta is also home to the Metis Nation of Alberta, Region III. As a settler, I have unjustly benefited from occupying the traditional lands encompassed within the Southern Alberta region. This acknowledgement is a small step towards reconciliation and decolonization as I am committed to learning and growing in order to make my practice a safe place to support the empowerment of all individuals.
